Help keep my father out of assisted living.
Personally, this is my first time making a GoFundMe. Other family members have made one for my father, as most of you know, Todd has ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and he has not gotten better yet... We stay optimistic. Hundreds have donated before, and have been a tremendous help, but if anyone has any experience with ALS, they know how expensive it is or can be.
I made this category hopes and dreams instead of medical and wellness for a reason. Currently dad is 100 percent all there in the brain, that should never go away, nor do I expect it to, knowing him... even if he was 90 with Alzheimer’s, he’s a Hendrickson. However his body can’t function, he has zero motor skills. He can blink, raise his eye brows, smile, and sometimes turn his head. As far his other motor functions, they are out the window.
He has a phenomenal CNA, Tammy, who has been a Godsend for us. And a wonderful advance care nurse Kim. But his Home Health Care agency is pulling them out because he requires too much advance nursing care and they will not pay for it. The great state of Florida would rather see a 51 year old man in a nursing home rather than at the home of his beloved who truly care about him, and where he will be much happier and more comfortable because it’s cheaper on their end.
What I am asking, is if you or anyone, could donate and keep the hopes and dreams alive and keep him at HOME! Where he belongs. At least for a few more months. He thanks you, I thank you, the Hendrickson family thanks you.
