Hello there, my name is Amber. I’m 40 years old and I work in health care. This is hard for me to write; I don’t like asking for help from those I love, let alone anyone else. However, I am in a situation.

In January, I was in a single-car accident vs. a deer, and the deer won. It took me a month to get my car fixed because paying for Ubers to and from work while it was being repaired was expensive! I got my car back, and 2 weeks later, something’s wrong. Turns out they didn’t see something, and long story short, it’s broken and has been since March 3rd because I simply cannot save money to fix it and pay Ubers to and from work (40$ one way, so 80$ a day) on top of my regular bills. I get zero help; I have zero assistance. I do this on my own with my two children.

Well, Friday I got a letter from CMP: disconnect notice 3400$. I’m panicked. I said to myself, chill out, call Monday, set up a payment plan, and problem solved. Well, they told me they can’t do a payment plan, that I have until Friday to pay 3400$ or my power will be disconnected, and if this happens, I am in violation of my lease and will be evicted. I’ve worked so hard to get here and I work full time. I’m not looking for a handout; I’m willing to work it off or pay it back weekly. I just don’t know what else to do. I have reached out to all the programs, and most I don’t qualify for. Thank you for taking the time to read this…

Sincerely,

Amber
