Hi everyone,

We reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for some urgent help for our parents, John and Chris, during a very challenging time. Our beautiful Mum Chris has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and Osteoporosis. Over the past few months we have seen her health and mobility decline and it has been incredibly hard for us all.

Mum and Dad live in a two storey home with all the bedrooms and bathroom up stairs. Climbing the stairs has become more and more difficult for Mum and with her Osteoporosis, the risk of a serious fall is something we are constantly worried about.

As her Alzheimer’s progresses we are scared that she might forget and try to go down the stairs alone, especially at night. We've been told that even one fall could be something she wouldn't be able to recover from.

To keep her safe and comfortable, we are hoping to convert their downstairs dining room into a bedroom and build a small accessible ensuite bathroom. This would allow Mum to stay on the ground floor and avoid using the stairs altogether.

Both Mum and Dad are on the pension and don't have the funds to do this on their own. My Dad plans to take on as much of the work as he can, but he's also Mums full time carer and his energy and time really need to go into looking after her. Ideally we would love to bring in trades to take some of the load of him and ensure everything is done efficiently and timely.

We are hoping to raise $15000 to help make this happen. It is not easy to ask for help, but we just want and need Mum to be safe, comfortable and cared for at home for as long as possible.
