Help Keep Ms. Ana’s Lights On — A Beloved Community Elder in Need
If you’ve ever passed through Ana’s corner of New Orleans, you’ve likely been welcomed by the warmth of her smile and the incredible smell of her machuca simmering on the stove. Ana is 80 years old and lives on her own, yet still finds the strength and joy to cook delicious meals out of her home — not just to earn a modest living, but to feed her neighbors. Anyone who has visited her knows that if there are leftovers, Ana gives them freely to anyone in need. That’s just who she is: a giver, a nurturer, a beloved elder in our community.
Today, this sweet and generous soul needs our help.
Ana has fallen behind on her bills, and her electricity is at risk of being shut off. We are hoping to raise $600 to cover her overdue balance and keep her power on as we move into the colder months. For someone who has spent her life giving to others, this is our chance to give back.
No amount is too small — truly. Whether you can donate $5 or $50, it will make a real difference. And if you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser so we can reach others who may be able to help.
Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. Let’s show Ana how much her community loves her right back. ❤️
