Michael Bonner “Mass Banna” is a husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, friend, church member and a community beacon in South Manchester and beyond. He has one of the biggest hearts and has served his community with pride for many years. Michael is always giving and makes himself available to help others at all times. He is a jovial, humble, honest, hardworking, dependable and kindhearted individual who is always helping.

In recent months, Michael has been faced with some health challenges. He has been diagnosed with severe aortic valve stenosis. Aortic stenosis occurs when the flaps (or leaflets) of the aortic valve become stiff due to calcium buildup, preventing them from properly opening and closing. This results in the serious consequence of restricting blood flow in the heart and to the rest of the body. Every week counts and delaying treatment may result in stroke and can be fatal. Even through all the symptoms of fatigue, shortness of breath, chest pain and tightness, Michael continues to do his best to provide for himself and his family and help others. This diagnosis has been emotionally and financially overwhelming to Michael and his family.

He needs open heart surgery to repair or replace the aortic valve within the next 3 months to save his life. This is a major, high risk procedure that requires expert care and extensive recovery. Unfortunately, the cost of diagnostic testing, the procedure, medication and aftercare is beyond our financial capability.
