Emergency housing fundraiser for Kristy and Ian

This is Kristy. Kristy has Pompes , a condition that requires specialized care. This limits her housing options due to the need for wheelchair access, customized bathroom, bedroom and an elevator. Earlier in life, she lived in and out of hospitals and care homes before settling down for life in her current residence alongside Ian, her constant companion, caregiver, partner and friend. She had everything she needed to thrive. Her bright mind never giving up, always learning, reading, moving to self improvement. From home she’s lived as an inspirational story for everyone she knows. This all about to change.

This month they were informed that Kristy, and by extension Ian, are being evicted from their home. Forcing Kristy to choose between a waiting list for a care home suitable for her needs, or worse. Forcing Ian to find both a new home, and a method to support himself. They have been given until August 1st to find a solution for this desperate situation. Without Ian close at hand, Kristy’s quality of life will take a stark turn for the worse. Without Kristy, Ian will be without his life’s love. Kristy has the experience to know that her quality of life in a facility will be significantly reduced. The waiting lists are very long. The chance of a care home being available in such a short time frame is improbable, meaning Kristy may need to choose to be hospitalized indefinitely instead. With this change Kristy will lose her livelihood and funding, funding which also supports Ian to be her primary caregiver.

Ian and Kristy have been dedicated to each other for over 14 years. These are terrifying times for both of them. Forced to discuss the end of their lives together while simultaneously navigating the very real possibility of homelessness and loss of income. With no alternatives to this cruel circumstance, we are turning to GoFundMe to raise money for them. They will need help to either transition Kristy to a new home where she can continue to thrive with Ian. Or to help them both navigate their new reality. Finding a new home for Kristy is a challenge. Finding a new home for Ian is a challenge. Finding new homes for their cats, dog and lizards is a challenge. Doing all of that with the impending loss of each other is an unbearable challenge.

Kristy and Ian have always lived within their means, running a tight monthly budget that has not allowed for savings. With their now uncertain future being presented so many additional challenges, please help raise at least $20,000 to allow them to navigate this time with needed security.
