Hi, I'm Victoria. I'm doing this for my son Julien, who is diagnosed with ASD-3, which is the most severe form of autism.
We're trying to raise money for a fence to keep our sweet boy safe. He is nonverbal and a severe elopement risk. Our worst fear is that he may wander off and be injured or kidnapped. Julien also has no sense of danger or personal awareness; he will run TOWARDS vehicles instead of avoiding them.
Julien cannot play outside for more than five minutes without eloping, and his favorite place to go is the road. Julien is getting stronger and faster every day, and it has gotten to the point where we stay indoors to keep him safe.
My husband and I have exhausted all options to keep our boy safe in all situations. Our preventative measures are fingerprint locks as well as passcode locks on all our exterior doors, and a harness (shown above) to keep him close when we leave the house. We’re in the process of obtaining a specialized stroller through insurance. We have a safety bed on the way as well so he can’t sneak out at night.
It’s absolutely heartbreaking keeping this nature-loving boy inside all the time.
Thank you for taking the time to review this, and any help is very appreciated.
Sincerely,
Victoria
