Help Jordan Recover from Lyme & Head Injury (TBI)

Donation protected
My friend Jordan is a fighter, and she has been battling Chronic Lyme Disease, POTS, MCAS, and a slew of other chronic illnesses for years now.

Her enthusiasm, compassion, and creativity could power a small city, and many people can’t believe she is disabled because of her big heart, her big smile, and her even bigger determination.

However, she has had numerous trips to the hospital recently for her health, spent 7 days in ICU with anaphylaxis, and last month, Jordan fell twice as a result of blood pressure swings. The second fall resulted in a traumatic brain injury (TBI). She has since struggled to read, look at screens, focus, and stay calm. The stress of it makes her MCAS worse, closing her throat weekly, sometimes 5 times a day. This makes her day-to-day life nearly impossible to navigate.

Because she has dealt with TBI before, Jordan understands that she can get better, but it will take time, hard work, and determination. However, she cannot do it alone. Even with her husband’s help, she is struggling to make progress in recovery.

This is why I am asking you to support her today. Jordan’s injury resulted in a large batch of medical bills that she cannot pay. She is going to require countless medical appointments, as well as medications, in order to get better, and even with health insurance, the bills cost thousands she does not have.

Financial support will support the following for Jordan immediately:

  • An inpatient facility stay for cognitive & occupational therapy (only partially covered by insurance)
  • A health aide when she returns home from cognitive rehabilitation, to help her eat, use the bathroom and prevent falls.
  • To pay past, present, and future medical bills.
  • To cover her medication, including the epi-pens that insurance will no longer cover at $115-$399 apiece.
  • To cover the remaining balance of hospital bills after insurance.
  • To cover any supplements, naturopathic appointments, or necessary devices that will help her speed up recovery and/or assist with her current trauma and symptoms.
  • Formal training for her Medical Alert Service Dog so that once she is better, she can go out alone and regain her independence safely.

Although her husband, Brad, has a job that covers their day-to-day needs, Jordan’s condition is severe and the amount of treatment and intervention needed exceeds their insurance coverage and budget.

Currently Jordan will lie in bed for hours, unable to use the bathroom, make food, or get medication without assistance. Her memory and focus is significantly impaired and she gets overwhelmed easily, unable to even use her phone. This is deeply distressing for her and Brad, who cannot manage her care alone, as he is responsible for Jordan’s care, the dogs, and everything else needed for daily living. Jordan needs full-time care.

Jordan has been a wonderful and supportive friend to so many, even as someone with limited energy and severe chronic illnesses. She is only 32 and has been denied government support because of her Lyme diagnosis. I hope that we can come together to help Jordan achieve recovery from TBI with the resources she needs.
