Hi, my name is Michelle and this October, my husband Ed and I are heading back to Uganda, a country and community that have become close to our hearts. We’ll be revisiting schools we’ve supported in the past — and this time, we’re hoping to make a big difference in the lives of 250 girls at a school in Engari.

Why sanitary pads?

Because something as basic as menstruation shouldn't be a reason for a girl to drop out of school.

In many parts of rural Uganda, girls don't have access to feminine hygiene products. When their periods start, they often stay home from school — missing up to a week every month. Over time, they fall behind in their studies, lose confidence, and eventually drop out entirely.

But there’s a simple, powerful solution: AFRIpads.

For just $10.50 CAD, we can provide one girl with an AFRIpads Schoolgirl Kit — a set of high-quality, reusable sanitary pads made right in Uganda. These kits are not only cost-effective and environmentally friendly, but they also help girls stay in school, pursue their dreams, and build brighter futures.

Our goal:

To raise enough funds to provide kits for all 250 girls at the school in Engari — that’s $2,625 CAD total. We want you to know that all funds raised will be used solely to purchase AFRIpads. You’re not covering travel or admin — just giving girls the chance to stay in school.

We’ve seen the impact firsthand. On my last trip to Uganda, with Ursula Feller-Mulrain, thanks to a generous outpouring of support, we were able to provide many girls with kits — and the results were incredible. Attendance improved, confidence soared, and the gratitude we witnessed was unforgettable.
