GALLERY 71 NEEDS YOUR HELP!
I am launching this GoFundMe campaign in an effort to save my art gallery and keep it in business for years to come. With your generous contributions, we can make this happen.
Like other small businesses, Gallery 71 has experienced a major financial impact from the pandemic. Art galleries, and especially those that serve local communities, are finding it difficult to continue operating, given the costs related to rent, salaries, artwork acquisitions, and events.
As the founder and operating officer of the Gallery, I am deeply concerned about our future. But I believe, with your help, we can get through this time and come out even stronger than before.
Gallery 71 celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2019. Since the day it opened, the Gallery has provided the neighborhood with a welcoming space where people have come in to purchase art, see what’s new on the walls, listen to an art presentation, share ideas and news, or just enjoy an oasis from the fast-paced New York City life.
In compliance with city and state regulations, the Gallery has been closed to the public since March 14, 2020. Although we have been working remotely, our sales have declined by 95%. There is no way of knowing when we can reopen and whether we can recoup the lost revenue of the past two months. Even when we are able to reopen, business will not return to normal, as we are all aware.
If the Gallery receives the funding it needs to weather the current crisis and to reestablish itself on a solid financial footing, I am optimistic for the future. Gallery 71 will, once again, play a central role in the neighborhood and in the art community.
Know that we have several initiatives that your donations will help fund, including:
- New collections, artists, and presentations in the Gallery and online
- Increased online and social media presence
- Participation in art fairs
- Virtual tours of what’s on the walls and in our inventory
- Special offerings for framing
- Personalized consultations, in-home and virtually
Gallery 71 has managed to survive some tough times over the years. But this is a different and more difficult time than ever before and without an infusion of capital, the Gallery will be forced to close.
I don’t want the Gallery to close. This is why I am reaching out for assistance in the form of donations.
Thanks in advance for whatever you can give!
