Help Us Stay Housed - We’re So Close to Stability
EDIT: WE RECEIVED AN EVICTION NOTICE IF WE DO NOT PAY NEARLY $1400 IN THREE DAYS. SEE IMAGE
We’ve been unhoused for over a year. My two kids, our cat, and I have been doing everything we can to stay safe and together, living in a hotel has not been easy. After months of uncertainty, we finally found a mobile home and got approved to move in. Stability is right in front of us - for the first time in a long time.
But just as we reached the finish line, everything hit at once:
My only sources of income - alimony and child support - were suddenly cut off with no warning.
One of the two roommates I was depending on backed out, leaving me to cover more rent.
And to top it all off, our hotel just raised their nightly rate, making it even harder to stay housed while we wait to move.
This is the tightrope we’re walking: trying to survive today while holding onto the only shot we’ve had at long-term housing in over a year.
I’m a disabled parent doing everything I can to keep my kids stable and safe. But right now, we need help.
We’re raising $3,000 to cover:
The hotel costs until our move-in date (including the new higher rate)
Half of the first month’s rent
Car Repairs to facilitate moving
Money to rent a truck to unload our storage unit.
We have less than 3 weeks to secure all of this - and some of it is needed in the next few days just to stay indoors. It's peak summer in Georgia and we cannot survive outside or in our car.
We’ve come this far. We’ve survived this long. And we’re so close to something solid.
I’m trying to keep my kids from having to start all over again. We’ve been in survival mode for over a year—stretching everything, living on edge, doing whatever it takes just to make it one more day. We’re so close to something stable, and I just want us to finally be able to stop running.
If you’ve ever been here - on the edge of everything - please help us cross over.
Every share, every donation, every act of care counts.
With deep gratitude,
