We are Faye and Anya, two transwomen who just moved to Minnesota in April from Texas to escape worsening conditions for us.
While Minnesota is great for us, we’ve had some struggles being able to afford rent as we’ve both lost our jobs in June.
Though we are both working now, we are 2 months behind in rent and our landlord sent us a notice stating they will file an eviction notice with Hennepin County on 9/12 if we can’t make a substantial payment towards rent before then.
We are completely broke at the moment. I have taken on massive debt to be able to stay here, but we’re afraid that we’ll be evicted and have nowhere else to go.
The grand total of what we owe toward rent at the moment is $2,700, but we think if we can at least cover the rest of last month’s rent, $1,200, that that would be considered a substantial payment.
We are in the process of selling our belongings to try to cover it but we will likely still need help as we won’t be able to afford any groceries until we get our first checks, toward the end of September.
Please keep us in your thoughts and share with your friends, and if you are able to, contribute to us being able to stay in our apartment long enough to start earning and paying rent again.
Thank you, and we give you our warmest thanks,
Faye and Anya
