UPDATE: I keep in touch with many of the families we previously helped, and I wanted to give you all an update. A few of the women have reached out to me and they need winter coats for the children. Shoes, socks, gloves, and coats. Every one of these women in ALL of these families has gotten a job in the new country they call home. Many of the refuge programs are out of funds, and I feel like this is something we can help with. I have raised our goal, this money will be used to buy the children winter boots and clothes. I humbly ask on behalf of myself, and my new and dear Ukrainian friends, please donate $20. Just $20 can get warm socks and coats for the kids. These are kids we already helped, let’s continue to look out for them.

Hi my name is Kiki, (Chiara) and I was sent to Poland to work as a photojournalist and aid in the humanitarian crisis. This is truly like nothing I have seen before, these people are being forced to leave everything behind, including the family pet. As I watch this unfold, I can't help but think about my 13-year-old dog Giovanni. Not only is he a part of my family, but he is crucial for my well-being. I can not ever imagine leaving him..... BUT I have also never had my choice ripped away from me. 

 

 These families, especially the children, have lost so much just getting to safety; however, safety often does NOT allow pets.

 

This is an area I felt I could help with, as I have a lot of experience finding pet friendly places to stay. I started to find housing online for these families and rented them so that they could have a free place to be safe for a while, specifically families with pets. The more I searched, the more people I found with a need. This is why I am asking for your help. Please, if you are able, please volunteer or donate; together, we can make a difference for fellow pet parents.

 

I am not a famous charity; I am not a massive organization; I am one person, and one friend who saw a need and started doing what we could. I am in Poland helping get these families to the locations I have already arranged and we are arranging more. With your help, these children and families can maintain some type of normal, like cuddling with the family pet every night.
