Help Keep Erica Off the Streets

Hi! My name is Erica, and I am an impoverished trans woman living alone in a remote part of Canada. Currently I am in debt, and risking eviction. It has taken a lot of prodding and support from my friends in order to convince me to try and write this GFM, and I feel very ashamed that it has come to this, but my pride is not worth the alternative.

It all started in part bc I was owed $1200 by a former roommate who ran out on his bills and has refused to pay back any of his debt. Additionally, OnlyFans, which was previously a very reliant source of income, has stopped paying and has not been answering my support messages. Lastly, the miserable, dangerous freelance companionship work i've been doing to survive has been drying up and extremely inconsistent. But bills are accumulating rapidly and since past attempts to seek support in the form of welfare or unemployment have been a failure, getting support now while I look for an alternative job is an emergency.

I currently live in Duncan BC, which is a poor economically depressed town of a few thousand with very few jobs or public services, located quite far away from the nearest population center. Despite this, rent is still unreasonably high due to being in British Columbia where the current economic climate has real estate prices, as well as rentals, absolutely soaring to an unprecedented degree.

Despite trying to work as much as my health currently allows, I am in debt to my landlord to the tune of $2871.43, as of February first, and I am struggling to pay past rent owed, while still feeding myself. I am trying to get out of a very bad situation and start a better life in a new career path that doesn't require me to put myself and my health in danger to afford food, and if possible, also pay for outstanding dental work which has only made matters worse. If I am able to raise the $2871 I owe for rent, that would be a dream come true, but I am putting the overall goal at $4000 Canadian, in the hopes I can also handle the outstanding dental care.

As of now, I have three and a half weeks left to pay my rent before the eviction process will begin due to non-payment as I have been behind on rent since November. I do not have any social supports that are able to foot this bill, or even help me couchsurf in my current area, and paying what I owe could be the difference between safety and homelessness.
