Help Darsulia Get Life-Saving Heart Treatment

Hi, my name is Darsulia Royal. I am a Black trans woman, a writer, an activist, and most importantly, a mother to a beautiful five-year-old daughter. I have spent my life caring for others, but right now, I need help.

I have atrial fibrillation (A-Fib), a serious heart condition that has nearly ended my life multiple times. I’ve had to rush to the hospital for emergency care over and over again. In some of those moments, doctors had to perform cardioversions—literally shocking my heart back into rhythm—just to keep me alive.

This Friday, I am undergoing a heart ablation, a critical procedure to treat my A-Fib and prevent these life-threatening episodes. Without it, I remain at high risk for heart failure, blood clots, and stroke. But getting the care I need comes with a devastating price: I will be $8,000 in debt just to survive.

On top of medical costs, I will also be out of work for at least a week while I recover and need help covering child care expenses during that time. As a Black trans woman, I don’t have a safety net to fall back on, and I know that mutual aid is often the only support we have in times like this.

I am asking for help—not just for myself, but for my daughter, who deserves to grow up with her mother by her side. Any amount you can give will help me get this life-saving procedure, cover lost wages, and ensure my child is cared for while I heal.
