2025 Choptank River Bacteria Testing Fund -Kingston Landing

Tax deductible
Hello, I'm John Moran, and once again volunteering to collect weekly water samples from Kingston Landing, Easton MD for bacteria monitoring on the Choptank River through Shorerivers supported by their Choptank River Keepers.

This is a bacteria monitoring program to test water at/near local swimming areas so we can share with the public information on the bacteria levels at different locations along the river.

The program runs from Thursday May 22nd, ahead of Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, and results are shared on Fridays on Shorerivers , Choptank Riverkeepers , social media, local papers and radio stations, and on Swim Guide .

Other nearest sampling stations to Kingston Landing are Choptank Marina Beach and Two John's Landing so helps connect a large stretch of river between these two other sampling sites.

In order to establish a new monitoring site the following criteria must be met:
  • The site must be publicly accessible - Kingston Landing, Easton Maryland
  • A volunteer SwimTester capable of collecting weekly samples on Thursday morning and delivering them to our lab in Easton. That's me, John!
  • A Site Sponsor(s) to help cover the monitoring equipment costs ($750 season). This is where you come in!

I'm looking for some help to fund the tests which is $750 per site per year ($50/per sample). Many of the other sites get individual sponsors, but last year we were able to raise the funding through community contributions quickly (which was amazing!). Our first collection is Thursday May 22nd, ahead of Memorial Day weekend. Any support is greatly appreciated!
