Help keep Brooklyn Woodwind & Brass Shop afloat!

Donation protected
If you've walked along the southern strip of Franklin Street in Greenpoint, you may have noticed a discreet shop with red velvet curtains and shiny brass instruments on display in the large windows. Brooklyn Woodwind and Brass has been owned and operated by local Greenpointer Eric Downs for ~13 years, and it remains one of Brooklyn's unique and hidden gems.

Eric is a smiling, dynamic guy, a lifelong musician and an avid Star Trek fan with a quirky sense of humor. He'll make you feel right at home as soon as you step into his shop, whether you're inquiring about saxophone lessons, checking out one of the beautiful instruments hanging from the walls, or just looking around.

In early December, Eric was rushed to the hospital for emergency medical care. He's been fighting for over two months to get back to good health and is making progress every single day. According to his doctors, he'll need another 6-8 months of physical and occupational therapy in order to make a full recovery and be able to come back to work in his shop.

While Eric has been out, the his two employees, Jorge and Gabriel, along with his friend Shipra and his two sisters have kept the doors open, lights on, instrument repairs coming, and bills paid. But they need help to get through this difficult time. That's where you come in. If you know Eric, his shop, are a neighbor in Greenpoint or a musician in New York - please help; if you want to support a struggling small business pay rent and stay afloat - please help.
There are only a handful of independently-owned shops like Eric's that still exist in NYC, and even fewer that offer what he does: expertise, affordable prices, and sincere passion.

Please help keep Brooklyn Woodwind & Brass alive! Share this with your friends, neighbors and community members!
