Help keep Brandy in her home!

Hello Big Hearted People. One of my dearest friends (of 20+ years) is in crisis. Brandy has endured an onslaught on unfortunate circumstances and is presently facing homelessness.

She is finally allowing me to create this for her, (which is incredibly hard for her) because the reality of her losing her home is less than two weeks away right now.

Brandy is one of the most creative, strong, hardworking people I know. A series of (continuous!) unfortunate events have landed her in this present crisis.

Just before the pandemic, she was laid off from her beloved job of eight years running an acupuncture clinic in Portland.

She had just ended her domestic partnership of ten years (so hard), when she endured a horrible car accident. Her traumatic brain injury was so bad that she could no longer read or write.

Just as she was needing medical care to recover from this accident- the whole world shut down because of covid. It was impossible for her to get the care that she needed, which is partly why her recovery has been so slow.

Still, she rallied, she gently nursed herself back to health as best she could. Then she contracted long covid, (among other health issues), and at one point she weighed below 100lbs.

Throughout all this she remained positive, and resourceful- mindful to live simply and plan carefully even as her unemployment ran out.

The impact of her injuries and illnesses have lasted years, and though she has healed enough to read and write again- re-ntering the workforce has been beyond difficult.

I have personally witnessed her trying to find ANY kind of work now for an extended period of time, and it has been scary how hard it has been!

Please help my friend if you can. Even a few months more rent would help her through this financial crisis. She lives simply in a small studio in Portland- but every year they raise her rent the max allowed.

Brandy is loved by her community and neighbors, because she is always so kind and helpful to everyone around her.

B has finally established an incredible healthcare team through Oregon Health Plan, and needs to stay in Portland to continue her healing and get her life back on track. Thank you for giving any amount you can, no amount is too small.
