We are community members raising funds to cover rent, groceries, and other necessities for a large family of our immigrant neighbors in Whittier, Minneapolis, MN. They have been unable to go to work during the months-long surge in deportations and need our support during this incredibly frightening time. Anything you can contribute will help them stay in their home and be cared for while it remains unsafe to be out and about. We are hoping to fund mid-month March rent, groceries, and a few fun things for the kids. Thank you for helping us take care of our neighbors - they and we are so grateful for your support.
UPDATE:
Hi all,
Thank you so much for supporting our neighbors! They are very grateful. With your help, we have paid for rent, electric, and delivered groceries for over a month now.
From the family:
I thank [the donors] with all my heart. If it were not for your help we could not endure so much. God bless you always.
Operation Metro Surge is mostly over, but people are just beginning to go back to their normal lives, and safe work is hard to find, as ICE continues to visit construction sites, restaurants, and more. We are hoping to pay for one more month's worth of expenses while our neighbors find work, recover, and rebuild. Help us keep them in their home; please donate if you can and share widely. We are so grateful for your support - while the economic effects of Metro Surge have been devastating, we have felt no shortage of community, love, and solidarity, from near and far. Be well and **** ICE!
