I am leaving the account open as there are still other needs. They were able to fix Mike's truck for when he returned to work, but Megan's car is also in great need of repairs and tires (actually she needs another car as this one is VERY old, but that's a whole other mountain to climb to get a different vehicle), as well as high balances on utility bills, and Christmas/birthdays fast approaching.

I am reaching out for help for my sister and her family, here is their need:

For those of you who know Mike and me, you understand we have been through a rough couple of years. My husband's line of work was shut down a few years ago, and finding work has been a real struggle. We've always seemed to make it work. Then 2025 rolled around. In late January, my 2 year old daughter, Haylie, was very sick (in the ICU) and in the hospital for a few weeks. In March, I was sick and spent almost 2 weeks in the hospital myself. At this time, I gave birth to my son, Nathan, and was on maternity leave after leaving the hospital. Then, Nathan was admitted to the hospital in late May with a skull fracture. Thankfully, he is okay with no lasting affects, but it was another week off of work. We went about 3 months without income. We needed to survive, which caused us to fall 2.5 months behind in rent, as well as behind in utility bills. My landlord has been very patient with us. When I returned to work, we continued paying rent monthly, but had no extra to catch us up. By mid-summer, with both Mike and me working, we finally reached a point to be able to pay extra to catch up. Then, in August, Mike had an accident at work and cut part of his finger off. It ended up getting infected; he was taken off work for 8 weeks. Needless to say, I had to notify my landlord that we would be able to manage 1 month's rent again. He was been kind and apologetic when he let us know that we can't continue our stay if we cannot bring our rent up to current.

I have sought help with DHS and MCOP. When I filed with DHS, they did approve to help with a portion ONLY if I show proof the remainder can be paid (which we don't currently have). They told me to go to MCOP for the rest. In the beginning of September, I went to MCOP. They told me they were out of funds until October 1st. I informed my landlord of the situation, asking him to be a little more patient. Were still able to give him 1 month's rent. He obliged.

On October 1st, I went to MCOP for a second time only to find out they can't help due to the government shutdown. At this point, my landlord feels he has no other choice but to file an eviction notice.

Here, I am doing the only other thing I can think to do to keep a roof over my family's head. My landlord is ready to evict. An eviction means it goes on our record, which nearly eliminates the possibility of getting even another place to rent. If you deem this unnecessary, I can respect that and you can ignore this. But if you find even just the smallest amount to help, my family appreciates your support beyond what words can express. We have managed to pay monthly; we just need to get up to speed, and I know we can keep up with rent. We fell behind and haven't been able to gain any ground. It is the getting caught up that we can't see an end to. We have never seen ourselves in a situation like this. When life throws you circumstances you have no control over, you're put in unfortunate situations.
