Help Keep a Roof Over a Cancer Fighter's Head
Donation protected
I'm reaching out as a final straw to help my situation while I go through this cancer journey.
I decided to try GoFundMe because on my post asking for help everyone kept asking why I didn't just make the GoFundMe! I hope this helps, I really didn't want to do it
I wouldn't ask if I wasn't very much in need of help. This is the worst thing I've ever had to do, begging for money just to get by in my daily life. As if being diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer isn't bad enough, now I can't work and my only income is disability, which is approx $930 a month. I don't know many people that can get by on under $1000 a month, but I've been struggling to do it since Jan.
I'm 6 months into treatment and just barely halfway done. I've moved into a 1992 RV/5th wheel that was graciously gifted to me last year. I had been fixing it up because it's obviously older and these things aren't really meant to live in daily, so there's always something else wrong with it. Currently, we're trying to fix a few things: my water heater, which my parents have already paid about $1500 to a mobile RV mechanic to fix (and he did; however, it's already once again not working, and he claims it's because the place is so old. That might be true, but he gave a lifetime warranty for his work and now is backing out of that word he gave). There are a few leaks we found in the roof during my first winter staying in it that we also need to fix asap, and also all the damage (mostly mold removal that is a huge issue) that the leaking caused.
Anyways, there's quite a few things I need to have done on my home/RV as I struggle through chemo and a couple more surgeries to follow. I don't mind discussing these things in private to anyone with any questions.
I don't want to get rich here; I just want to survive and keep a roof over my head while I fight the biggest fight of my life! I fo have the help of my boyfriend here with me; he moved here from another state to help me, so he's not yet working in WA state, just random jobs here and there to keep us afloat. But he spends most of his time caring for me and working on the car and RV. So I don't need a mechanic for most of the work; I just need money to help buy the parts, etc.
My car still needs work on the axle and motor mount to make it safe for me to drive to my appointments, and it would be helpful if I could afford a mechanic because we had a hard time fixing the passenger side.
I'm trying to be as open about everything as I can because I really do need help. I've been eating Top Ramen and oatmeal mostly and whatever else cheap I can buy, which isn't healthy, but neither is eating nothing. I have one aunt and my parents helping me out, but they don't have the money to keep supporting me, so I am very thankful for what help I have received. It's just not enough, and I don't feel right that they're the only ones I have to ask. My family is all living in other states so to make it even tougher, we're basically alone on this journey.
I don't know how much we need, so I'm just going to put a random amount and just pray I get any help at all. I've gone through my storage and tried to sell anything worth money, but I'm out of options now. Please, if you can help, I would be so very thankful. Anything helps, honestly, even 10 or 20 bucks; it all adds up. This is my last resort before you see me out on the corner with a cardboard sign... just kidding (I hope).
