Help Keep a Friend from Homelessness (Updated)

WE REACHED THE $1440 GOAL!!!

I can't tell you how absolutely amazing this is, and how much this means to us - to Silver especially! Thank you SO MUCH! From the bottom of our hearts!

And Alu the cat as well, Silver promised to get them a can of wet food when they can to celebrate!

This money is so truly appreciated - it pays off the total the landlord wanted to avoid eviction.

I do still want to leave the fundraiser up and running in order to help try to cover some of November's rent if we can, since as of today Silver still hasn't been able to get an answer on the rent aid. Again, any and all funds collected go straight to them for use on their rent, all to ensure they stay in their home while they push for aid and employment.

For this I am increasing the fundraising goal to: $2200.

Rent for them is $720, so the extra $40 should account for the gofundme service fees.

Hi, my name is Chris, and I am fundraising for my friend Silver.

This person is a truly wonderful human being that has given everything they can to friends going through mental health crises and has helped me personally through some of my darkest days in the last year. It didn't matter how hard their life was, or how bad a day they were having. If I needed to talk to someone, or if I needed a distraction of any kind, they would spend time with me. They have helped me through panic attacks and mid-night depressive episodes, and have been a constant ear for my woes as I deal with everything from abusive workplace stress, to a landlord setting my home on fire, to relatives being terminally ill. Silver consistantly does this with other friends as well - and it doesn't matter how far we are from them, or how overburdened they are by their own physical or mental health.

I am on the West Coast in Canada, and they are on the East Coast in New York State, and this distance does not matter to them. If I am hurting, or if any of their friends are hurting, Silver drops what they are doing to help - even if all they can do in the moment is talk us through our tears.

They never ask for anything in return and consistently avoid asking for any kind of help.

Over the last couple of months, they have been working with a local group to get help recovering from their own health crises. They are stuck in the system trying to obtain emergency home services funding to prevent their landlord from evicting them, and it has been difficult trying to get a timeline from them for this aid.

Unfortunately, their landlord is no longer willing to wait. My friend has no family that can help them and has access to very limited resources. They have been given a two week notice to pay.

We are asking for as many people as possible to help give anything they can to help keep our friend off the streets. They have been working so hard to finally take care of their own health. To get the help they need to finally get on their feet and sort their life out once again. They just need help with paying the bills until they can get proper housing assistance.

Everything donated will be sent directly to Silver - I am asking them to put their banking information into this fundraiser so it goes straight to them - and will be used for their outstanding rent. If we can get anything above that goal, it will also be used for future months' rent.
