Working Hard To Keep 2C Yoga Open

Donation protected
We are still here. Every bit of love and kindness helps. Even if a donation is not what you were thinking please share our studio with others. We have begun the long road back (variants be damned!). Every time you share your knowledge of us on social media or word of mouth it helps our little Studio. Thank you.

When we were required to shut the doors to our beloved studio located at 720 16th Ave S, Nampa, ID on Friday March 13, 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we were in a state of shock, sorrow, and denial. We could not believe this was happening; our hearts were bruised and broken. We immediately received so much love and support from you, the community that we stood back up and rose to the challenge. After a mere 3 days of being closed, we jumped back in, learned how to teach virtually, and have been teaching non-stop ever since. While our studio space was closed for 3 months, we began to learn what it would take to teach in-studio. Lots of cleaning, disinfecting, and tiny class sizes. This is our new reality, and we are embracing it because we know that people need a place where we can practice self-care while also sharing a laugh or a good cry. We need our community.

We are thankful that the livestream class schedule has provided a small income to cover teacher salaries; having a variety of teachers with different strengths and backgrounds helps us all to see that there is a place for us in yoga. Sadly, we have come to accept that this income from our livestream classes is simply not enough to cover rent, utilities, or really any expenses that are part of keeping your friendly, neighborhood yoga studio open for you to practice in person. Our memberships have been reduced to a fraction of what they were, and as you know, we've always kept the prices low so that we could keep yoga as accessible as possible.

Through it all, we continue to pay rent, utilities, and payroll. We are so appreciative of our landlord, Tom Waskow, for working with us every step of the way! We are realizing that this might be a very long road.  We have taken on second (and third) jobs and depleted our savings to try to keep the studio open. We have applied for every grant and government resource possible; unfortunately, in most cases, we are listed as a non-essential small business (even though we believe that caring for the well-being of our community is essential)  and are not eligible to receive most of the financial help created for small businesses. And lastly, but not least, many of you have reached out privately to provide support to keep the studio open.

We know that the time has come for us to ask for help. We resisted setting up a fundraiser until now because:

1. We really thought we could make it through, with hard work and determination.
2. We are too proud for our own good and fearful of the judgment of asking for help.
3. We really thought we would be back to “normal" by now.
4. There are so many other folks struggling as well and need help.
5. We are just one month away from having to close our doors for good.

That said, so many of you have asked how you can help (and as we mentioned above, so many of you have reached out to help in so many ways to keep us open this long). We really believe that you are as worried as we are that we might not weather this storm and will be forced to shut down. 2C Yoga isn't just our business, it is a community of people who find 2C Yoga to be an integral part of their lives. We created 2C Yoga because, for so many of us, we didn't feel welcome to practice yoga in other spaces. We didn't feel that, among other things, our age or size, or ethnicity were valued and honored. We created 2C Yoga because we wanted to create a community that celebrated our differences and embraced them. That's who we are.

We are taking the leap of faith, baring our souls to ask for your help. This fundraiser will ensure that we are able to keep going for one year and can avoid having to close our doors for good.

We hope you will consider a donation of any size so that our small business can continue to serve our community with its dedication to your health and well-being. We want our students to know we deeply value your participation and are committed to providing the best learning and healing environment.

Please share our page with your friends and family. No donation is too small. It would also be a HUGE help to get your friends to take livestream or in-studio classes and sign up on our website at 2cyoga.org . People are now able to attend from anywhere in the world!

Thanks, in advance, for your willingness to give us a hand. We are only able to be here because YOU believe in this community.

Love & Immense Gratitude,

Teresa and Nicole
