Help Keauna Heal: Medical Support Fund

Donation protected
Hi all,
My name is Iman Saleem, and I'm reaching out to you today on behalf of my best friend, Keauna Lenton, whom I've known for over a decade. Our friendship began back in our high school days at the Academy of the Sacred Heart, where we shared countless memories and dreams for the future.

Keauna's journey has been one of resilience and determination. After high school, she pursued her education at Hampton University before transferring to the University of Michigan with a full scholarship to complete her undergraduate degree. Despite battling lupus, which tragically attacked her kidneys during her college years, Keauna's strength never wavered. She would wake up at 4 am for dialysis treatments and still manage to make it to her 8 am classes. Her perseverance paid off, and in April 2022, she proudly graduated from the University of Michigan with a major in chemistry.

Keauna's ambitions didn't stop there. She was admitted to graduate school to pursue a degree in cosmetic science, and she was very excited to continue her academic journey. However, her health took another challenging turn. Keauna faced yet another battle, requiring emergency surgery, experiencing an aneurysm, and an extended stay in the ICU.

Today, Keauna is on the road to recovery, but the journey ahead has many obstacles. She will need to relearn how to do almost everything—basic everyday tasks like walking, talking, eating, and so much more. She will be undergoing extensive rehabilitation and therapy to help her regain these abilities, but this process will take time, patience, and tremendous support. As Keauna continues her healing journey, we're asking for your support to help alleviate the burden of her medical expenses. Keauna requires around the clock 24/7 medical care, which is not covered by insurance. Her ongoing care includes supplies, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy.

Keauna has been blessed with the following, and the family would like to share our deep appreciation to:

· Harper Hospital Detroit who gifted Keauna a speciality bed with a bed scale and pressure reducing mattress
· Quality Home Health Care who gifted Keauna a Maxi Move Hoyer lift and a Barton cardiac chair
· Faith Works of Michigan who gifted Keauna a ramp going into the home and another ramp going up into her bedroom
· The Gary Sinise Foundation gifted Keauna a 2023 Chrysler wheelchair accessible van

Furthermore, Keauna is also in need of a kidney transplant and is in search of compatible donors. For information regarding the donation of a kidney, please contact Keauna’s mother DeVoughn Owens (248-240-7647 or [email redacted]).

Keauna's faith and resilience have carried her through these trials, and we believe in the power of community to lift her up during this time of need. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference in Keauna's life and bring her one step closer to a full recovery.

Thank you for considering supporting Keauna on her journey. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in her life and show her the love and support she deserves.
