Help Kea recover from injustice due to the LTB

Hello my name is Kea! I am a queer + autistic artist, and I am raising funds to help recover from the injustice that I faced from the Landlord and Tenant board.

On March 17th 2025 I had to flee my apartment due to safety concerns from the ongoing harassement that I had to endure from my downstairs neighbour.

The harassment from him has been an ongoing issue since the moment I moved in but I wasn’t aware of it until I had already signed the lease. The harassment was very on and off with him screaming and banging his ceiling (my floor) whenever my roommate at the time and I walked around.
Multiple emails were sent to property management, and at first they acknowledged the issues, and had a talk with him. But the harassment didn’t stop there. And eventually property management started ignoring all my calls and emails.
Eventually this harassment became worse, to the point where the police needed to be called, but they couldn’t do anything. The harassment that my roommate at the time and I were enduring was now a threat to our safety.
my roommate left, and I had to deal with this myself. With no family around and very few friends to help.

I was then offered a bed to sleep in until I found a new place to live. So I packed a small bag of belongings and I took my cats.

I offered a formal form to ask for a faster move out date, to which property management declined. Since they declined the form, it was now past the time that I needed to settle this, so it then turned into me owing them a month of rent.

Right after I decided to take this to the Landlord and Tenant Board with my case in hopes of waiving that month. I even stuck to my 30 days that I had originally asked for and I got all of my items out of my apartment with some help.

After waiting a whole year for my hearing, I finally had it and I was told that I had no case and that I had to owe them over 2k for that month of rent.
In fact, they were very dismissive and apathetic about my case. And kept asking me why I didn’t move. But there are so many reasons as to why I didn’t, some being school, my physical health, and financial stress.

The money that I owed is money that I don’t have, as I am self employed and I work very hard to be able to put food on the table.

No one should have to go through the injustice that I have gone through, so I please ask for your support in helping me get back onto my feet to help recover from this financial burden in order for me to be able to feed myself, help to pay a portion of my rent, and to be able to take a small breath.

Thank you so much.

-Kea

edit: thank you all for your donations, I sincerely appreciate all the support that I have received so far ♡
