On June 14, 2026, during a tornado watch and powerful winds, my mother experienced a life-changing event. A massive oak tree crashed onto her trailer, taking out the living room and smashing her bedroom. Thankfully, she is safe, but the damage left her without a place to call home. Because her trailer was older, she did not have insurance, making this loss even more devastating and leaving her with few options for recovery.

The land where my mother has lived for years is incredibly special to her. It’s the same place where her own mom and dad raised her as a child, filled with memories and a deep sense of belonging. Losing her home here is not just about losing a house—it’s about losing a piece of her family history and the comfort she’s always known.

Now, she faces the challenge of finding a new place to live or buying a new house, all while coping with the emotional toll of losing her home and the land that means so much to her.
