I was born with two rare birth defects, oligodontia and microdontia, which have affected my teeth since childhood. I am missing 17 permanent teeth, and the ones I do have are all the size of baby teeth. Because of this, I have spent an astronomical amount of money on dental work over the years, as insurance companies often consider dental issues to be 'cosmetic' and do not provide coverage.

Recently, I began the process of getting dental implants to restore my smile and improve my quality of life. Dental implants are the only long-term option I have other than dentures. While I was fortunate to find a dentist who could bill my medical insurance for the procedure, I still need to reach my maximum out-of-pocket costs for both 2025 and 2026. On top of that, I have had to travel multiple times from North Carolina to Arkansas for treatment, which has added to the financial burden. Some of my implants have not taken for the second time, so I am facing yet another trip and additional surgery.
