My name is Jennifer, and I’m reaching out for help during the most difficult time of my life. I am trying to raise funds to keep both my friend Kaylee and me from losing our homes.

Kaylee is 19 years old, and I have been helping support her for the past couple of years. On December 10, I lost my job after reporting racist comments made by coworkers. Since then, I have been unemployed and doing everything I can to find work. I received unemployment benefits, but only $755 because I had only worked at that job for three months. I apply for jobs every day, and Kaylee is also searching, but we haven’t been able to secure employment yet.

Right now, we are facing an urgent housing crisis. My mortgage is $2,200 per month, and I am already two months behind, with another payment due soon. Kaylee’s landlord is expecting $2,922.64 by March 1. Altogether, we need help covering these immediate housing costs so that neither of us becomes homeless while we continue searching for work. I have applied for mortgage assistance and am waiting for a decision, and I currently have SNAP benefits for one more month. I also have an 11-year-old child depending on me.

Kaylee lives in Los Angeles, and moving her back here is not a safe option due to family circumstances. Without help, she could lose her housing, and I could lose my home as well.

Our goal of $10,000 will cover the past-due mortgage payments, the upcoming mortgage, and Kaylee’s rent so we can stay housed while we work to get back on our feet. Any amount helps, and even sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to us.
