Dear family, friends, and kind-hearted strangers,
My name is Deanna, and I have 3 beautiful children: Kayleana, Kristian, and Jamere.
As some of you may know and some of you may not know, on September 19th, 2024, one day before my Kayleana’s 8th birthday, my sweet girl was diagnosed with a rare and very aggressive, non-curable brain cancer known as High-Grade Glioma (Glioblastomas). These tumors are fast-growing. The prognosis is generally poor, with a short median survival time.
The symptoms include headaches, vision problems, seizures, and cognitive changes. However, higher-grade gliomas have poorer outcomes, with median survival rates around 1-2 years. Kayleana is at the highest grade, which is a grade 4.
On September 19th, 2024, our lives took a change for the worst. We had to literally rearrange our lives within a 2-week period after finding out Kayleana's diagnosis.
I had to quit my job and move all our things to storage by the 8th of October so that I could move closer to the hospital so that Kayleana could start radiation treatments that were scheduled for 6 weeks, Monday-Friday. I didn’t have a car at the time, so I had no other choice but to move due to the commute being 2 hours away. I had no way of getting my daughter back and forth on a daily basis so that she could be treated.
Since then, my children and I have been residing in a palliative care home for the past 7 months for children with chronic illnesses. With Kayleana’s condition, I have not been able to work, and I don’t know when I will be able to work a full-time job that will accommodate my daughter’s needs.
Our lives literally revolve around our Kayleana.
We are currently looking for a new home. We are scheduled to move out of the palliative care home on July 1st of this year. With the lack of financial stability due to me not being able to maintain work at this difficult time, I am asking for your help. Any little bit will be helpful and much appreciated. These funds will help us find a new home, pay a few months of rent and bills, and get the essential things we need until I am able to get back fully on my feet.
After months of determining if I wanted to relocate back to Iowa to be closer to family support, I decided to stay here in Texas, where I am confident Kayleana is in the right place for the best care.
Kayleana has such a beautiful soul, and she is loved by so many.
My kids are everything to me, and I will do anything for them to live a normal life again. We miss being in the comfort of our own home. So I’m asking that you all be understanding and help us the best way you can.
I love you all, and I ask that you continue to keep us in your prayers and hearts.
