My name is Kayla Liggins, and I live in Arkansas. I have not had the typical college journey, being that I transferred schools with a year and a half until graduation. In 2017, I attended a school on the east coast. My dad passed away unexpectedly in 2019. I returned home to Arkansas and transferred to Henderson State University. It became too much being so far from my family after experiencing such a tragic loss. I am currently a junior with an Integrated Studies major (hybrid studies of Math, Psychology, and English).
Growing up, I always heard the expression "a closed mouth doesn't get fed." Mostly at family barbecues, but this applies to all aspects of life too. I find it hard to ask for help, but asking for help is not a sign of weakness but strength.
I am requesting in strength: help to pay the remaining balance ($1500: for classes & books) for this past semester. This help will enable me to enroll in summer classes. I recently made a payment of $1800; when I received communication that the outstanding balance was more than already paid. Summer classes begin July 6th, so I have a little over two weeks to reach my goal. Currently, I am applying for jobs in my town to acquire additional funds. I am grateful for any donations made. If you are unable to donate, thank you for taking the time to read about my circumstance. Words of encouragement and prayers are greatly appreciated as well. Come what may, I am determined to finish. I have come too far to give up now.
