Help Kayla overcome FND

Donation protected
We are reaching out to you with heavy hearts to seek support for our daughter, Kayla Burrowes, who has been battling the debilitating effects of Functional Neurological Disorder.

Kayla's journey began last summer when she contracted Covid-19, and her symptoms have only worsened since then. What started as occasional feelings of unwellness soon progressed into persistent dizziness, severe headaches, and recurrent episodes of nausea and vomiting. Kayla's condition has significantly impacted her high school experience, as her symptoms intensified during her freshman year, particularly while participating in track. Seeking answers, we pursued numerous medical consultations, and the road to a diagnosis was long and challenging.

Despite her unwavering determination, Kayla's ability to walk was compromised, leading us to seek specialized care at NY Columbia Presbyterian. After weeks of testing she was diagnosed with FND (Functional Neurological Disorder) She required extensive physical and occupational therapy and was transferred to the Children’s Specialized Hospital for treatment to regain her mobility and overall well-being.

Since discharged Kayla has missed countless school days due to her symptoms, including headaches, dizziness, and sporadic uncoordination. Furthermore, she experiences seizure-like episodes and frequent tics, making it difficult for her to concentrate and leaving her perpetually fatigued. Attempts at exercise exacerbate her dizziness, often resulting in worsening episodes the following day.

We’ve seen multiple medical professionals hoping to find the answers we need to guide Kayla's treatment to no avail. A continued search for answers brought us across a young lady who presented many of Kayla’s symptoms. She has been successfully treated and to date is doing extremely well.

We’re now seeking the help of the same Michigan based Doctor who’s a board certified chiropractic neurologist specializing in non-surgical, non-pharmaceutical treatment of FND, dysautonomia, traumatic brain injury, and movement disorders. He was certified as a diplomate in chiropractic neurology by the American Board of Chiropractic Neurology (ACNB) in 2010 and has since served patients from across North America and around the globe.

The doctor was booked through 2023 but with prayer and supplication an opening became available and Kayla is scheduled to travel to Michigan in July to begin a treatment plan.

We humbly ask for your support through this GoFundMe campaign to help cover the associated medical expenses as this treatment is not covered by our health insurance. Your generosity will provide Kayla with the best chance of overcoming the effects of FND and reclaiming her health, happiness and life. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for standing by our side during this challenging journey to get Kayla well again.
