Hi all, my name is Karen and I'm starting this fundraiser to help my partner Kayla. Kayla was diagnosed with endometriosis and is in need of surgery. Her endometriosis causes her debilitating pain daily and she is in need of surgery in order to improve her quality of life.

In early 2024, severe abdominal pain required Kayla to be hospitalized with a nasogastric tube treatment due to a partial small bowel obstruction caused by an endometrioma cyst. This event led Kayla to see several OBGYN specialists who confirmed her ongoing symptoms aligned with an endometriosis diagnosis.

Kayla has been seeing a specialist at UHealth Miami since May 2025. After ultrasounds and MRI tests, the specialist believes Kayla has stage 3 endometriosis, impacting her surrounding organs including her bladder. The specialists has scheduled her for surgery next month that will include robotic excisions, laparoscopy, and cystourethroscopy, which would confirm her endometriosis diagnosis, alleviate chronic pain, and provide a pathway for Kayla to receive a comprehensive health plan.

We were informed that Kayla will have to pay about $24,000 by her surgery date of October 2nd or she will not be able to go through with the procedure. Due to the short notice, we are continuing to find ways to come up with the money and are in need of community support and assistance.

Unfortunately, the specialist has affirmed to us that this condition is chronic and will require physical therapy post-surgery and additional surgeries every few years. Any extra funds donated will be used solely towards these continued costs.

Even though Kayla's condition is chronic, surgery is the only option for long-term pain relief. Getting this surgery will allow Kayla to finish her undergraduate studies, which she had to put on hold this fall due to pain and to allow recovery time for the surgery. It will also allow Kayla to move forward with her life and goals and allow us to begin building our lives together as a young couple.
