I am a disabled senior living on a very limited income, and my 17-year-old car has finally given out. My monthly income is just over nine hundred dollars, which makes it very difficult to cover unexpected expenses. Because I was the sole caretaker for my late husband during his final 12 years, I was only able to work part time, which significantly lowered my Social Security. Our savings were completely depleted after years of paying high insurance premiums before the Affordable Care Act.
As a widow with no children or immediate family, I rely on my car for everything—from getting to my many medical appointments to running essential errands. Without reliable transportation, I worry about how I’ll manage my health and daily needs.
My situation is even more uncertain because I don’t have a strong support network. If something were to happen to my current roommate, I’d be left without a way to move my belongings or find a new place to live. In the worst-case scenario, I might even have to live in my car while searching for a new home. That’s why having a dependable vehicle is so important to me—it’s not just about convenience, but about maintaining my independence and security.
If people in the community were to help, it would mean the world to me. In these harsh political times, knowing that kindness and generosity still exist would restore my hope. Your support would make a real difference in my life, and I would be deeply grateful for any help you can give.
As a side note. Even if I can just get enough for a really good down payment it would be helpful. Joe and I never bought cars from lots so any advice about used car lots would be appreciated.
