Single Mother Facing Homelessness Needs Urgent Help to Stay Afloat

Just the Two of Us Against All Odds

Hello, my name is Kaye. I am a single mother who has always done everything I possibly can to provide for my son. For years, I’ve taken pride in being the sole provider—making sure he has a safe home, food on the table, and the ability to focus on school and his future.

Unfortunately, I was laid off from my long-standing job, and I have now been out of work for the past eight months. During that time, I also became seriously ill due to an ongoing condition that required hospitalization for several months. This flare up was brought on by the ongoing stress of housing and job insecurity.Because of this, I was unable to keep up with my expenses and got even further behind.my landlord was not will to work with me or come to an agreement, and now we are facing the heartbreaking reality of losing our home.

I’ve reached out to local agencies for help, but resources are extremely limited or unavailable. Shelters are prioritizing those who are already unhoused, and I fear that may soon become our reality. Without family or loved ones to rely on, this has been incredibly overwhelming.

I am currently a full-time student with a 3.8 GPA, working hard to build a better future for my son and myself. I’ve also reached out to my school for a Request for Professional Judgment and Emergency Assistance, but unfortunately, the financial aid I received only covers tuition, and I’ve been capped for any additional funding this academic year.

Despite everything, my son continues to shine—he is a straight A student with a 4.0 GPA and truly an amazing blessing in my life. He is my motivation to keep pushing forward, even during this difficult time.

I am actively searching for employment, but in the meantime, we urgently need help to keep a roof over our heads and cover basic necessities like rent, utilities, and food.
