Help Kayden's Family Through This Medical Crisis

Meet Kayden, 8 years old. He just started his 3rd grade year at Ladonia Elementary School in Russell County, Alabama. He lives with his mom, Shaley Myers, and his dad, Danny Danielson.

Kayden was taken to the hospital Sunday the 25th because of severe abdominal pains. The local hospital triaged him and shortly after put him on a life flight to the Children's Hospital of Birmingham. The local hospital was concerned his appendix was the cause of his pain, and it was confirmed in Birmingham that his appendix had ruptured. If that wasn't enough, he also had 5 abscesses in his lower abdomen associated with the rupture. His body then began not processing his fluids properly, causing fluid build-ups in multiple locations, including his lungs, over the next day.

This all happened very fast with no warning for his family and has been very hard on them. Kayden is a fighter, with a heart of a lion, and a smile that can light up any room. His parents continue to hold strong to their faith in God, knowing that everything is in His hands. They have been in the hospital for many days now, over 3 hours from home. He was in the CCU for 5 days and finally moved to a normal room today. His fluid processing has since corrected, his doctors are waiting for the infections around his appendix to go away so they can go in and remove his appendix.

Things are slowly but surely moving in the right direction, but Kayden and his family still have a very long road ahead. Especially with surgery looming and having to commute the 3 hours when they must, as well as many stays in a hotel over the next few weeks. Coach Danny, head of the baseball program for Russell County HS and PE teacher at RC Middle School. With his wife Shaley's love and support, he has become a pillar to the baseball community in our area for many years and they are loved by many. Coach Danny along with his wife Shaley continue to stay by Kayden's side always. Let's show our support to this loving and hardworking family during these troubling times.
