Help Kayden Kick Cancers Butt!!
Hi, My name is Amber Hutchens (Lorenz) and I am the best friend (of 25 years) of this sweet little boys Momma, Jessica Considder. Three days ago, Jessica and Bryan got the unfortunate news that he was diagnosed with Leukemia. When I say it was a shock, I cannot even begin to imagine how Jessica and Bryan feel. As a friend, you want to help in any way possible so this is where I landed. We will leave Kayden's treatment to God and his awesome team of specialists at Pittsburgh Children's Hospital.
Kayden' Story:
Kayden is a happy healthy 2.5 year old wild little boy! A few weeks ago, Jess & Bryan noticed a few black and blue marks on Kayden's leg. As you can imagine, a black and blue mark on a 2.5 year old is not that alarming especially when he's always climbing and playing on his swing set! After a week or so went by, they noticed that the bruises were not disappearing and becoming more frequent. This prompted them to call Kayden's daycare to have a discussion about his daily activity. It was determined that all was well at daycare and suggested to call Kayden's pediatrician. Jess immediately made an appointment in which they ran bloodwork. The bloodwork was returned quickly and within 45 minutes the doctor had called Jess and told her to get Kayden to the Children's Hospital ER. This is when the whirlwind begin.
Doctors ran multiple tests & scans. It was determined that Kayden had ALL Leukemia. Something a parent never wants to hear. However, Jess and Bryan had to stay strong for their little one to determine the next steps. After two platelet infusions and a red blood cell cluster infusion, Kayden was able to get a little bit of rest. The next morning he received a bone marrow biopsy, spinal tap, and had a port (central line) imported into this chest. During this procedure, he also received his first round of chemo injected into his spinal fluid. He will continue very intensive treatment over the next 29 days, following 2-3 chemo sessions a week over the next 12 months. Jess and Brian will be staying with Kayden in the hospital over the next week for careful observation of his organs, vitals and any side effects. Once Kayden returns home, he will take weekly trips into Pittsburgh Children's Hospital to continue treatment.
Diagnosis: Kayden was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia with B Cells. Jess and Bryan have been told this is the most common type of pediatric leukemia and also has the highest complete cure rate at about 95%. Of course, we are all considering that positive news and thanking God! Kayden is going to have a long road ahead...a lot of treatments, in and out of the hospital, and making sure he can stay as healthy as possible to kick cancer's BUTT!
I am asking that you keep Kayden in your daily prayers! Any amount that is donated is greatly appreciated and will be put to use for all of Kayden's medical bills and costs that Mom & Dad incur along the way.
