Our dear friends are facing every parent’s worst nightmare, and they need our support.
Their fun, loving, and brave 7-year-old boy has just been diagnosed with leukemia. What began as a few weeks of unexplained fatigue and stomach pain has turned into an urgent transfer to SickKids Hospital and the start of life-saving treatment. Kayden was diagnosed with leukemia on November 28, and he began chemotherapy the very same day. His first phase of treatment is a five-week intensive protocol, which is one of the most demanding parts of the entire journey. After this phase, his treatment plan will depend on several factors, including how well his body responds to the chemotherapy.
While every child’s path is different, Kayden’s full treatment journey is expected to last 2–3 years. It’s a long road ahead, but he is showing incredible bravery through every procedure, needle, and hospital day so far.
Everything has happened so suddenly that the family is still trying to catch their breath.
Kayden is the happiest, most adventurous kid — he loves sports, exploring the outdoors, fishing and hunting, and being surrounded by friends and family. Seeing him go through bloodwork, procedures, and long hospital days has been heartbreaking, but he is showing unbelievable courage and strength.
As the family now shifts their entire world toward supporting Kayden, they are facing significant and unexpected financial strain. This includes:
• Natalie, his mom, needing to take a year or more off work as his primary caregiver while being supported by Kayden’s dad, Terry, the Meadowcroft family and his little sister Mia as well as Nat’s mom, sister, and Kayden’s cousins. Their love strength and
commitment will be a huge part of helping Kayden through the challenges ahead.
• Travel, gas, and parking expenses for hospital visits
• Meals and accommodation in Toronto
• Medications, medical supplies, and ongoing care needs
• Emergency visits and unplanned admissions
We are creating this page to help ease some of that burden so they can focus entirely on what matters most: being by Kayden’s side through every step of his treatment.
Any support — whether a donation, sharing this page, or sending love and prayers — means the world to them. Your kindness will help lighten the weight they are carrying and allow them to stay strong for their brave boy.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for showing this incredible family that they are not alone.
