I never wanted to have to ask for help again, but right now I am trying to keep a roof over my head for myself and my daughters. For more than 10 years, I have worked as an educator and creator, supporting my family through workshops, speaking engagements, and content creation. Over time, that work became the life I built for us. But as attacks on DEI intensified, my opportunities as a Black trans man have dwindled. Social media platforms are suppressing content and paying very little, and brands are no longer hiring Black queer and trans creators at the same rate. What once sustained my family is no longer enough, and I do not have the resources to move or even downgrade our housing.

I recently made it through three interviews for a position and truly hoped it would be the turning point we needed. Instead, I got the email saying they chose someone else, and I have been devastated and trying to cope ever since. How your support will help: it will help me catch up on rent and bills so my daughters and I can avoid homelessness. It will also give me the breathing room to focus on my mental health, care for my children, and keep searching for stable work.
