We’re raising funds to support our amazing 12-year-old daughter, Kayci, who has been nominated by her teacher for two prestigious national summer programs through Envision by WorldStrides. Kayci has always been a curious, driven, and compassionate young lady. She is currently a straight-A student, an active member of her school robotics team, a participant in Nature Club, and a proud Girl Scout. She also hopes to join Student Government so she can use her voice to make a difference in her school community.
Her teacher recently nominated her for two incredible opportunities happening this summer: the Junior National Young Leaders Conference and the National Youth Leadership Forum: Explore STEM. Both programs are designed to help motivated students build leadership skills, explore career paths, and develop confidence in their abilities.
These programs will give Kayci hands-on experiences that most students don’t get until much later in life. During the Explore STEM program, she will build and program her own robot, solve a simulated crime scene using forensic science, participate in medical labs, and work through engineering challenges using real design tools. Students even take their robot home, allowing Kayci to continue learning and building long after the program ends. During the Junior National Young Leaders Conference, she will walk the same paths as historic leaders and changemakers, participate in leadership simulations, and create a “Voices of Change” action plan focused on issues that matter to her. Both programs are held on college campuses, giving students an early look at the future and helping them develop independence, confidence, and lifelong friendships with students from across the country.
As parents, we want to give Kayci every opportunity to explore her gifts and passions. These programs would open doors for her academically and personally, but the cost is more than our family can manage alone. If Kayci is able to attend both weeks, she will return home with greater confidence in her leadership abilities, real hands-on STEM experience, new friendships, and inspiration that could shape her future career path.
