Hi, my name is Kaya. I currently live in Biloxi, MS, and I’m currently active duty military, preparing to separate from active duty service soon. As I make this transition, I’m facing serious health challenges, including POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome), orthostatic intolerance, and PTSD.
These conditions affect my daily life in unpredictable and sometimes dangerous ways. A cardiac medical alert service dog would be life-changing for me by:
• Alerting me before I faint or collapse from POTS episodes/ medicine & water retrieval
• Assisting me when I experience dizziness or loss of balance
• Providing grounding and stability during PTSD episodes
• Helping me remain safe, independent, and able to live a fuller life
Unfortunately, training for a specialized service dog is very expensive, often costing $10,000–$25,000. The VA does not cover training for medical alert or PTSD service dogs, which means I need to raise the funds myself.
Your support will help cover:
✅ Obedience and advanced task training for cardiac alert
✅ Specialized service dog gear (vest, harness, leash)
✅ Veterinary care during the training process
This isn’t just about companionship—it’s about gaining a medical partner who can keep me safe, support my health, and help me adjust to life after the military.
If you’re able to give, any amount makes a difference. If you can’t donate right now, please consider sharing my story with friends, family, or on social media
Thank you so much for helping me take this important step forward.
With gratitude,
Kaya
