My name is Kay and I am asking for financial assistance in my relocation from western Pennsylvania to central Connecticut. Since becoming a Board Certified Music Therapist in March 2020, I have struggled immensely to gain career and financial stability in Pittsburgh, facing gender and disability-related discrimination and abuse in various workplaces since the pandemic began. In July 2024, I was blessed to begin facilitating The Liberatory Music Therapy Model of Gender Affirming Voicework (LMT-GAV) with the trans community across the country through Connecticut Music Therapy Services, although this position was remote and part time and I have had to maintain various other part time jobs to keep myself afloat. I also had to take out loans and accrue credit card debt during this time that made it impossible to save money for a move. In February 2026, I was offered a full time in-person Music Therapist role in Connecticut in which I’ll be working with various communities with mental health needs across the state in addition to LMT-GAV with the national trans community. Connecticut is a place where I will thrive and not simply survive, and any financial support that you can provide will make this necessary transition smoother for me.
