Help Kaylie Get Urgent Sight-Saving Cataract Surgery

Donation protected
Hi my name is Cindy, and I’m asking for help for my sister, Kay.
This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write.
Kay is only 37, and she is losing her sight — quickly.
Just two years ago, she went for a routine eye test and was told everything was completely fine. No warning signs. Nothing. Since then, her vision has deteriorated so fast that it’s honestly been terrifying to watch.
She’s now been diagnosed with a rare condition — rapid onset bilateral nuclear cataracts — and it’s progressing at an alarming rate.
Her prescription is already extremely severe:
* Right eye: -11.00
* Left eye: -7.00
And it’s still getting worse.

What this means for her life
I’m watching my sister slowly lose her independence, and it’s heartbreaking.
She can’t see clearly enough to enjoy everyday moments anymore — even watching her own daughter grow up has become difficult.
She now has to use a white stick just to get around safely.
She’s had near misses with cars.
She can’t drive anymore.
Even walking down the street has become overwhelming — people bump into her because she can’t see them properly.
Light hurts her eyes.
Going outside is exhausting.
Her whole world is shrinking, and I can see how much it’s affecting her emotionally. She’s becoming more withdrawn, more anxious… and it’s so hard to see her like this.

Why we urgently need help
The NHS has said they can operate — but it’s not straightforward.
They would treat one eye at a time, with long waits in between.
The results may only restore limited vision.
And the lenses may only last around 10 years — meaning more surgeries later on.
The biggest issue is time. Her sight is getting worse quickly, and we’re scared of how much could be lost while waiting.
Private surgery gives her the best chance — and the best outcome:
* Up to 97%+ vision restoration
* A fuller, more natural range of vision
* Long-term or lifetime lenses
* Most importantly: treatment as soon as possible

How you can help
We are trying to raise the funds to get Kay this surgery before her vision gets any worse.
This isn’t just about eyesight — it’s about giving her back her independence, her confidence, and her ability to live a normal life again.
To let her feel safe walking outside.
To let her see her daughter clearly.
To give her her future back.

From me, as her sister,
I never imagined I’d be in a position where I had to ask for help like this.
But watching someone you love go through this — knowing there is a solution, but it’s just out of reach — is incredibly hard.
Kay is still so young. She should be enjoying life, not preparing for blindness.
If you can donate, even a small amount, it would mean the world to us. And if you can’t, sharing this would help more than you know.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for helping us give Kay her life back ❤️
