Help Kay Get to Mayo Clinic for Lifesaving Care
Donation protected
As many of you all know, Kay has struggled with chronic illness and a number of health problems. Some of the dots are finally beginning to connect and she is going to be going to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota sometime at the end of July. Kay’s PCP and Endocrinologist sent referrals in for her to be seen and Mayo Clinic contacted her today to let her know the plan of action and what to expect. Doctors suspect that she has a rare genetic disorder called Carney’s Complex. This disorder has only been diagnosed in 750 people worldwide since its discovery in 1985. This disorder causes the body to make numerous tumors and this would explain many of her symptoms, including the heart tumor she had removed back in October. Because this disorder is so rare, local doctors do not know how to treat her. Her doctors are relying on the expertise of the doctors at the Mayo Clinic so they can provide an official diagnosis and a plan for her care that will likely involve frequent monitoring and surgeries for the rest of her life.
In order to go to the Mayo Clinic to receive the official diagnosis and the care she needs, we will need to go to Minnesota for up to two weeks. We will need to pay for travel, hotels, and food out of pocket. This is a very large expense that we could not possibly afford on our own at this time. For this reason, we are asking for help. Between the two of us, we have a lot of family and friends who could help us get another step closer to clarity for Kay’s health and towards a better quality of life for her. Kay is an incredible person with a huge heart full of so much love for others. She needs our help so she can live a long and happy life. Please consider helping us any way you can! Thank you
