In a matter of days, Kay’s life changed completely. On February 24th, After a serious car accident, Kay experienced a fall that resulted in bilateral femur fractures.

She required emergency surgery and spent several days in the ICU at UF Health in Jacksonville. 

For anyone, this would be a devastating injury. For a 72-year-old, it means a long and demanding road to recovery. Kay now faces months of rehabilitation, limited mobility, and a major life transition as she works to regain her independence. Recovery from bilateral femur fractures is not a quick process — it will require extensive physical therapy, medical follow-up, and significant support over time.

Kay’s best chance at healing is returning to Tallahassee, where her close friends and support system live. Being surrounded by people who love and care for her will make an enormous difference during this difficult season.
