Hi everyone,

My name is Michelle and I’m Kavi’s girlfriend. I’m writing this from a hospital bed while recovering from dengue fever, and the last several hours have been some of the most frightening of my life.

About seven hours ago, my boyfriend Kavi was in a tuk-tuk accident. A dog suddenly ran into the road after a fight and the he tried to avoid hitting it which resulted in the tuk-tuk flipping and Kavi’s foot became trapped underneath it.

The accident caused severe injuries to his foot. His tendons were torn, and the skin was ripped away so badly that the bone was exposed. He now needs urgent surgery to repair multiple tendons, and doctors say he may also need skin grafts and further treatment to properly heal the wound.

Kavi is a surfer. The ocean is his life, his passion and also his work. Surfing is how he makes a living and how he supports himself. Right now, these injuries threaten not only his ability to surf but also his ability to work for a long time while he recovers.

I’m starting this fundraiser because I want to help him get the best possible medical care so he has the best chance of healing properly and hopefully returning to the ocean one day.

The funds will help cover:

• Surgery to repair the damaged tendons

• Possible skin graft procedures

• Hospital and medical costs

• Rehabilitation and physiotherapy

• Support while he cannot work during recovery
