Help Kau’lana Heal: Support Vet Bills
Donation protected
The quest to diagnose & heal Kau’lana have brought in vet bills that are beyond my capacity.
Four weeks ago he presented as lame. The equine chiropractor came & adjusted him. Three weeks ago his body flooded with edema and he spiked a fever. Two weeks ago we trailered him 3hrs one-way to Vet Associates. They found nothing other than elevated white blood cells & sodium. From there, daily antibiotics and banamine injections resolved the edema and kept him eating and drinking, although he was weak and dropped weight. At one point, he fell and sustained injuries to all 4 legs:((
At 12hr intervals (when meds wore off) his fever spiked, so we knew we were not addressing the issue.
So, on Sept 15, we trailered him even farther to a different vet to get another opinion. His ultrasound was clear everywhere except in his lungs. He was diagnosed with pneumonia. It is my hope that this week’s new round of antibiotics will bring him back to the healthy horse so many of us love
Many of you will recall him being in service to you or your children at the barn. He has always been so gentle with the littles, consistently forward moving as many learned to trot and a bustling ball of energy whether we asked for jumping or barrel runs. If he is “famous” it is for being a solid, reliable and beautiful horse.
Any donation will help me tremendously. I wish I didn’t have to ask, after receiving so much support and concern from so many since this started in August.
Knowing times are tough on everyone, even just sharing his predicamemt with your friends or family is helpful ~ and most humbly appreciated. Many of us have had our lives changed that one special day we met a horse♥️
