My name is Anna Benedytska. Today I will tell you the story of my cousin Kateryna Leskovych, but first I want to tell you my story. I hope this helps you get to know her better.
On February 24, 2022, my family was in Ukraine at home. Early in the morning that day, the war began. The first two days, my daughter and I stayed in the basement to escape the bombing. We did not have the opportunity to leave, on the highway that leads to our city there were already battles. Kateryna and her husband Dima offered to help us. Dima came for us from the other end of the country. With their help, we left Ukraine. I am eternally grateful to them for the help they provided to my family.
Kateryna's story...
After Kateryna and Dima helped us to leave, they returned home. Kateryna decided to stay in Ukraine with her husband. She volunteered, helping stray dogs find a new family during this difficult time. But today, circumstances have developed in such a way that she herself needs help.
Her husband Dima passed away half a year ago in a tragic accident, which left Kateryna alone in Ukraine. All they had was each other for over 20 years. She was left to take care of their beloved dog Hemi by herself and refused to leave Ukraine without Hemi, her beloved dog was all she had left. The trauma of Dima’s sudden death and ongoing war impacted Kateryna very hard. The grief impacted her health dramatically and caused her to begin loosing her sight. The field of view from the left sides disappeared completely. The doctors have discovered that she has developed a tumor in her brain that will continue to deteriorate her sight and she may end up entirely blind. She has been diagnosed with Pituitary macroadenoma, the tumor had grown into the optic chiasm. She needs brain surgery and subsequent radiation to remove the tumor and hopefully save her vision.
Unfortunately, she does not have the funds to have the surgery and pay for recovery. Kateryna is afraid that without this treatment she will not be able to take care of her dog, whom she considers her soul mate Hemi.
We can help raise money for Kateryna's operation, subsequent treatment and medications. Every repost you make on social networks will be useful, every dollar donated will help us reach our goal to help Kateryna afford her surgery.
Please share and donate, every contribution helps♥️
