Help Katy to have more time with her family

As most of you may already know, Katy has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 Synovial Sarcoma. This is a rare (1 in a million), and very agressive type of cancer, which started as a large grade 3 tumor in her spine, and has spread to her lungs. There are now 5 separate tumors on her right lung, including one that has grown to over 8 cm, and another one found on her left. There are other possible metastases on her liver, thyroid gland, and spleen. The spinal tumor is destroying her lower spinal column and sacrum, and has caused her immense pain since June. During a routine open biopsy, she experienced significant blood loss due to the vascular nature of the spinal tumor and had to spend a week in the hospital. She now requires a cane to walk, along with many medications to ease her discomfort. The treatment options, including chemotherapy and radiation are not curative, and only extend her limited prognosis of 6-9 months slightly to 12-18 months.
Katy is passionate in everything she does and loves everyone and everything hard. She has so much love to give to her family, friends, and the world. She is a genuine person who forms connections easily and touches everyone she meets. She has a true interest in learning everything she can about the world and it’s people. She is a true giver, always putting everyone before herself; and I think now is the time to return the favor!
Due to her severe pain and dozens of hospital and specialist visits every month, Katy had to dissolve her very successful residential cleaning business, and is no longer able to work. Katy’s husband has been working 7 days a week to try to keep the bills somewhat paid, and her family has been able to help out a little, but can’t do it forever. Bills include rent, utilities, and various other debts like car and credit card payments.
This obviously comes as devastating news to Katy and her entire family, and there are things that Katy and Alexis would like to do with their daughter Lila (who is only 6 years old), whom they love beyond the edges of the universe. They would love to be able to take a trip to see his family who lives in Mexico. Katy would like to take Lila to Disney World (as she has never been there herself), and see friends who live in other parts of the country. In addition to these experiences, we all know the cost of medical treatment is exorbitant, and being treated at Johns Hopkins is certainly no exception.
Let’s help this deserving family have some meaningful experiences, a little peace of mind, and her husband have a little rest so they can spend time together as a family. Your donations are gracefully appreciated, and much needed. Thank you so much for all of your support!
