Meet my uncle, Yadav Kattel, a 48 year old man from Chitwan, Nepal, who is bravely battling stage four oral cancer. He is a kind and selfless man, a great husband, and an amazing father of two daughters, Kritika 14 and Kritisha 9. Life for his family was about routine and making ends meet but this has now changed.

It all started in March, Kattel experienced minor pain in his lower right molars. By mid-April, the pain became intense, prompting him to visit a nearby clinic. The doctor removed his molar tooth hoping it would alleviate his discomfort. However, the pain persisted, and by the end of May, Kattel was referred to the cancer hospital for further examination.

Then came the devastating news in June: Stage Four Oral Cancer, Gingivobuccal Sulcus Cancer. Kattel being the breadwinner of the family, the diagnosis wasn't just about his health, it was about their future.

Kattel underwent a 8 hour long critical surgery, “mandibulectomy”, that took half of his lower right jaw. But the fight isn't over yet. Sadly, the biopsy after the surgery revealed that the cancer not only persists but has also spread to his lymph nodes. Now, Kattel needs to undergo extensive radiation therapy and chemotherapy to continue his fight. Despite the challenges, Kattel remains hopeful and determined to overcome this illness. His positive outlook and firm courage inspire everyone around him.

Yet, the cost is a heavy burden, threatening Kattel’s chance to get the required medical treatment. With his income halted since the surgery, the family’s financial stability has been severely impacted. The surgery wiped out their savings and left them with debt. Kattel wants to fight this, but the financial strain is overwhelming.

Friends and relatives have stepped in to help, but it’s not enough to cover the extensive costs. This is a situation many families battling cancer face.
