Help Katrina with health & medical supplies!

Dear Friends and Family: The Simpson/Andybur/Muse/Clarke/Jimmison families are starting this GoFundMe to assist women and a family that has always been the first in line to help others. Their constant selfless displays of love have helped spread hope, love, and joy in this world, and their acts of humble charity and service have been a living witness of God’s love to many. We have an opportunity to support the Andybur family in a special way during a difficult season. We invite you to participate by sending your positive thoughts, prayers, and, if able to, financial support. In October, Katrina had to leave work because of complications due to lymphedema (large wounds that just wouldn’t heal). Unfortunately, it has also recently moved into her arms, causing nearly all of her limbs to require constant wrapping like a mummy until physical therapy was completed. Their insurance required this step to prove her condition could improve before they authorized compression garments and a drainage massage pump that could not only improve her quality of life but also potentially the quantity. She was recently diagnosed with an additional condition called lipedema, which is chronic inflammation in her legs. The good news is that physical therapy helped reduce her legs' swelling by almost 8 inches (circumference), so the insurance just authorized the fitting for the medical necessities she desperately needs and deserves. Unfortunately, she isn’t a candidate for any surgical medical options because of the blood thinners she has to take for a rare blood clotting condition. Only recently was she finally incapable of working and started applying for Disability so she could focus on her health. She has recently become dependent (wheelchairs, etc.) on her awesome husband, Mom, and daughter for so many things, especially while wrapped up and unable to do almost anything. This didn’t stop her from fighting through pain and discomfort to travel and support her daughter Elexa during the recent show choir season and of course spread what joy and love she could in any way possible. Perhaps the most challenging part for her comes from being unable to contribute to her family’s financial stability, which has taken a toll on her mental health. Despite these difficulties, she fights to remain focused on her many blessings and maintains an attitude of extreme gratitude. She truly has a great support system, especially with Matt and our Mom, who have been so excellent and helpful with all the extra attention and rides required to tend to her medical needs. I am happy to report she hasn’t lost her humility or humor as she comments that she would “seriously be rocking in a fetal position, in the corner of a dark room, drowning in tears if it wasn’t for the people around her.” Many people have asked if there is anything they can do to help. There is just so much insurance doesn’t cover, and even with help, like the Lenzendorf’s who were able to donate much-needed medical supplies from the 3M store, expenses are piling up. While this will be a lifelong journey, they are especially struggling financially. Over the last few months, they have spent $1200 on equipment and supplies insurance won’t pay for, and the garments and pumps will be an additional $1700. Katrina, unable to work these last five months, has exhausted their emergency funds, and without a decision from social security/disability, they fear what the next few months will bring. They work to stay mentally strong and focused on her health, but we all know the stress is hard on them. We know things are strained for so many, and we have zero expectations, but I pray we can be the light this family needs.
